SCMH to Host the Jungheinrich Driving Innovation Roadshow

In partnership with Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America, Inc. (MCFA), SCMH is gearing up to host the Jungheinrich Driving Innovation Roadshow for Southern California customers. The event is set for the second week of August  and will give customers several days to choose from to learn more about the innovative EFG2 Series of 3-wheel electric models. The event will kick off at the SCMH campus in Whittier, CA with an open house. Key features of the Jungheinrich three-wheel electric will be highlighted including:

• Up to 16 hours runtime on one charge
• 4th Generation AC Technology
• Smooth Drive

A forklift obstacle course competition open to all SCMH customers will be held. Lunch will be served.

In a press release published yesterday by Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklifts America (MCFA), the moving mast reach truck series available in Southern California at SCMH, was named “Reader’s Choice” awardee. Socal Warehouse Businesses Celebrate National Forklift Safety Day with SCMH

09 JUNE 2015, WHITTIER, CALIFORNIA  In promoting warehouse safety and productivity, Southern California Material Handling (SCMH) celebrated National Forklift Safety Day by hosting back-to-back workshops and discussions among its Southern California customers.

The three-hour morning session titled Warehouse Equipment Management was attended by some 30 warehouse owners, managers, and supervisors who took on valuable discussion on OSHA and the Law, Equipment Assessment, and How Asset Misuse Hurts the Bottomline.

In the afternoon, a free refresher training course was held for customers who are in need of forklift recertification.

Danny Barron, 25-year veteran of the SCMH training department facilitated both the discussion and the training.

Alfred Gallegos, Sales General Manager opened the event by welcoming the guests to the home of top-brand lift trucks, Caterpillar, Mitsubishi, & Jungheinrich in Southern California.

The event was capped by an open discussion among attendees, SCMH COO Mike Wolfe, account managers and parts and service representatives.

Beverage World Names Jungheinrich “Warehouse Innovator”

On the launch of Warehouse Innovator Awards, Beverage World honored several companies that are leading the beverage warehouse into the future. The criteria is based on products and services that drive efficiency and productivity in the warehouse and supply chain such us automated storage systems, retrieval systems, and voice-directed warehouse management systems.

Jungheinrich coveted the “Warehouse Innovator Award” for its #ETR 340-335d series of pantograph reach trucks which allows for loads in the warehouse to be staged at higher-rack levels for greater warehouse efficiency and productivity.

On the published article, Beverage World cited that “Jungheinrich’s advanced AC technology enables lift truck operators to achieve longer run times and also lift loads up to 450 inches, which helps to maximize warehouse space. Southern California Material Handling’s (SCMH) Michael “Mike” Rosoff received notification from Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire Friday, March 20, 2015 of his nomination for the Spirit of Volunteerism Award under the Human and Community Category.



Mike, SCMH’s Warranty Supervisor has been serving Make-A-Wish for over 12 years as a wish granter and a special events volunteer. Mike is also the Make-A-Wish “ambassador” to SCMH keeping the company abreast with relevant activities and opportunities for employees to be able to help out and participate. Mike is extensively involved with the recent bake sales and apple candy grams SCMH facilitated to raise funds for Make-A-Wish.

According to Make-A-Wish, Mike is being nominated for “selflessly donating his own funds and resources to support events throughout the year and most recently helped to solicit a high-level Walk for Wishes sponsorship from his company.”

CAT Lift Trucks Upgrades New 3000-7000 LB Capacity Internal Combustion Pneumatic Tire

Cat® Lift Trucks, a provider of lift trucks known for quality, reliability and customer service, today introduced the new GP15N-GP35N/DP20N-DP35N series of 3,000 – 7,000 lb. capacity internal combustion pneumatic tire lift trucks. In addition to delivering exceptional performance and powerful acceleration for greater productivity, the DP20N-DP35N diesel models are also built to meet and exceed U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 final regulations.

“We’re committed to providing our customers with top-performing and reliable lift truck solutions,” said Lucas Dumdie, product line manager at Cat Lift Trucks. “The GP15N-GP35N/DP20N-DP35N series offers the exceptional durability and high performance that our customers have come to expect from Cat Lift Trucks.”

Key features of the Cat GP15N-GP35N/DP20N-DP35N series include:

Tier 4 Final Compliant. The DP20N-DP35N models are equipped with a new 4EG 3.3L diesel engine that achieves emissions levels well below tier 4 final requirements by way of a common rail fuel injection system that precisely calculates the right mixture of fuel and air in the combustion process, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) that oxidizes NOx, carbon monoxide and particulate matter into harmless carbon dioxide and water.

Enhanced Performance. The new 4-cylinder diesel engine offers high levels of productivity and performance. The GP25N (LP model) shows up to 10 percent more productivity in competitive testing with advantages in ramp performance, lift speeds and overall top speeds. Additionally, there is a wide array of options that can be added to these trucks in order to accommodate the needs of any application and complete the job.

Increased Reliability. This series has a number of features that add to the overall reliability of the truck, including the standard 500 hour service intervals that help maximize uptime. The engine protection system (EPS) of the truck monitors vital fluid levels and pressures, immediately notifying the operator when certain thresholds are reached. This helps keep operators aware and notified of the needs of the lift truck, which means less down time and costly repairs. The lift truck also features an elevated air intake and filtration system that keeps the truck running clean and helps keep the engine compartment free of contaminants.

Exceptional Operator Comfort. Featuring rubber-mounted key components and a fully-insulated steel engine hood, the new Cat series offers operators a smooth, quiet ride as a result of the low noise and vibration in the operator compartment. The lift trucks also come standard with a high-visibility mast for increased operator awareness, a full-suspension vinyl seat that is adjustable for optimal comfort and a low anti-slip entry step for easy entry and exit on and off the lift truck.

SCMH Hosts Effective Credit Collection Strategies Workshop

November 12, 2014 WHITTIER, CA  Southern California Material Handling (SCMH) hosted its first workshop titled Effective Credit and Collection Strategies. In partnership with the Creditors Adjustment Bureau (CAB), SCMH organized the event to share with customers and business partners, insights and techniques from speaker Neal Gold who touched on developing business relationships, creating effective policies, essential negotiation skills, reducing bad debt & credit risks, chargebacks & unauthorized deductions, and even covered bankruptcy basics.

Controller Cindy Bautista opened the event to customer counterparts in finance, given the challenging economic environment that all businesses undergo. “Very much like our customers, we aim to provide excellent service all the way to the very end of the business cycle—collecting payment. With the help of CAB, not only did we learn of new techniques but were also able to exchange insights, experiences, and strategies.”

SCMH Rental Solutions First to Equip Rental Fleet with Blue Light

After much anticipation, SCMH’s extensive inventory of brand new equipment, premium pre-owned lift trucks, brand new rental fleet, and highly re-stocked parts will have an equally fresh home to call their own. “No move is easy, particularly if we are talking about the physical transfer of inventory as huge as our company’s” COO Mike Wolfe shares, “but our plans are in place and our customers should experience no downtime at all.” Wolfe assures that operations will be up and running Monday, June 16th and that SCMH’s doors, phone lines, and online communication will be open to all customers, as usual. The relocation to 12393 Slauson Avenue, Whittier CA, 90606 will commence in the first week of June and will be home to about 100 of SCMH’s current employees in the Pico Rivera branch. The San Fernando Valley branch will retain its current address on 8124 Deering Avenue, Canoga Park, CA 91304. The newly remodeled facility in Whittier is a welcome respite for some employees who have been in the Pico Rivera location for over 35 years.
